I am not sure there are any rules with respect to duration of response. The same goes for emergence of resistance. The main advantage with an allosteric inhibitor is selectivity and safety profile but I guess that's also debatable.

Any thoughts on the durability of response of an allosteric inhibitor like ARQ197 vs a competitive inhibitor like XL184 vs a MET antibody? Theoretically the allosteric inhibitor should be easier to mutate around due to the need to conserve the binding affinity for ATP at the drug site. I have not seen data on other allosteric inhibitors supporting or disproving it. It also will not matter commercially unless more than one MET inhibitor gets approved

As an Internet advertising strategy, SEO considers how search engines like google work, what people look up, the actual search terms typed into google and which search search engines are preferred by their targeted audience.

Ohad,

After BMY, GSK, and CEO all left, the price of EXEL was half cut so far. Do you still have some faith on X184? Do you think maybe this is a good opportunity to add more?

Thanks!

pimolden,

Overall it looks in line with the top line results they already presented. Didn't get a chance to delve deeper into the data. I guess that they'll limit enrollment to non-squamous (cheaper and shorter) or at least do a prospective stratification based on histology (larger study)

Hi Ohad,

care to tell us what you think about ARQ 197 restults?
In my eyes, their Non squamous PFS and OS look very promising considering the relatively robust phase II set-up.
But I'm just a simpleton.
Would love to hear your insight as to what they should do with these results, how should the phase III trial look and who should it include (or exclude) to maximize their chance?

Moorins

Hard to say, Moorins. People are already expecting a good data set but on the other hand, if they come up with an intereting biomarker for response that could be very reassuring for investors.

It's still too early to talk about pre ASCO stocks. I still didn't get a chance to go over it thoroughly. One thing is certain, Exelixis always has tons of posters/presentations there. I will be interested in seeing the two PI3K inhibitors they outlicensed to Sanofi as well as a study of XL184 with Tarceva I mentioned in the article.

Thanks, beo.
I didn't stop writing, we just had (and still having) a very busy period. I will probably wait with anything on MITI until after ASCO and more importantly, EHA right after in june.
In general I don't expect much from te MT110 data. On top of the obvious challenges in such indications, MITI will have to push the doses higher in order to see real benefit imo. It remains to be seen whether they can reach these levels without hitting too much toxicity.

Ohad, might Arqule be a good option play before the ASCO conference? Are there picks with better (and unexpected) catalysts?

What a nice piece of analysis. I was a bit afraid that you stopped writing for good... Do you plan any update about MITI? Seems to me that market does not see much reason for any push higher. But hopefully we will get some preASCO frenzy.

Jolly Rancher,

However, CHTP is still off its highs from last year and there has been insider buying already for a couple years with some at higher prices. Is there a reason why its undervalued...because it doesnt appeared to be a under the adar biotech?

WOW. Thanks, Ohad, for this great analysis. I had purchased at $3.24 and sold at $7 on this rally, though I do not think it was incredibly over-priced, just about even with other biotechs or a little under-priced actually. Still, I prefer to wait for the luster to wear a bit and get in again below $5. In the mean time, you may be interested in a stock I have been following called Chelsea Therapeutics, CHTP, which is developing an orphan, fast-tracked drug that is very likely to be approved within 12 months called Doxidropa for treatment of neurogenic orthostatic hypotension, including for this same indication in Parkinson's Disease. There's no other treatment, and it's already approved in Japan. CHTP also has a drug in P2 for treatment of RA that looks pretty good, results in Q1 2011. Best regards, JR
